My Teaching Philosophy

As a teacher, I help students recognize their strengths and weaknesses, solve problems independently, and find meaning in their playing with confidence. I teach with honesty and empathy, creating a safe space where students can grow through instruction tailored to their individual needs and backgrounds. My approach is grounded in discipline and care, influenced by my background in martial arts and a lifelong passion for learning. I believe teaching is a shared journey: by helping students unlock their potential, I continue to grow alongside them.

I am passionate about the cello and committed to building a strong foundation through technique, music theory, aural skills, and intentional practice. I design lessons using repertoire and etudes that meet students where they are, encouraging small, consistent effort toward big goals. My classroom is collaborative and creative—I use tools like group improvisation to promote musical expression beyond standard repertoire.

I strive to be accessible to students from underserved backgrounds like my own, bringing music education to the places it’s needed most. My teaching is rooted in self-betterment and love—a space where students are inspired to challenge themselves, in music and beyond.
